Get the Look: Prom Trends 2014
Promspiration for a Night You'll Always Remember
26 Mar 2014
Prom is always the most stylish soiree of the year for teen:, a night filled with sophistication, glamour, and memories to last a lifetime. 2013 has been no exception to these ideals and was a great year for prom fashion with bold trends like Oscar-worthy gold metallics and jeweled-tone gowns. But how can teens step up their prom game for 2014? We have done our research and although we are still in the bulk of winter and temperatures are chilly outside; our forecast says prom trends for 2014 are going to be hot, hot, hot! Here is a little promspiration to help you decide what kind look you want to blow your classmates away with this year.
Your prom dress is going to determine how you style your hair, how your make up is done, etc…so you’ll want to decide on a dress first. Some dress trends we adore for the 2014 prom season include flirty, short silhouettes in pastels or bright neon hues with accents of sparkles and beading. One shoulder dresses and overlays are especially prominent this year.
Once you have determined which dress you are going to wear, you should then determine which hairstyle would compliment your dress. For the fun girls who choose a short, flirty dress, try loose flowing waves or pull the top back for a playful half up-half down style. If you chose a one-shoulder dress, you love a good detail, so don’t hide it! Compliment it with a chic, polished high pony or a low wispy chignon. Maybe you decided to go slightly more traditional with a strapless sweetheart dress, and in that case, glam it up by wearing large sophisticated curls to one side. Any way you wear your hair that night should be something that gives you confidence and makes you feel glamorous.
Next comes make up style. If you have chosen a bright colored dress, try and flatter it by using shimmery neutrals in your make up. Perhaps you chose a dress with lighter colors and a simple design…turn up the glam with a bold smokey eye; use the traditional colors like black and silver or personalize your colors to make your eyes pop even more. And don’t forget that vintage glam never goes out of style! Winged liquid liner, filled-in brows, and a bright red matte lip always give that touch of classiness to your formal look.
Your prom look is almost complete! But you don’t want to look stunning in your dress, your luscious locks pinned up, and your face looking as radiant as ever and look down at your bare nails and say “oops!” Finish off your prom look with a special manicure! If you have gone with a dark colored dress select a metallic color or even a red to pop in your photos. Pastel dresses are all the rage this prom season, and what better way to compliment your light dress than a white translucent mani. They’ll look polished and classy at all times and will shine bright when the lights hits them. The classic pink and white French manicure is also pretty, but try a nude polish with a touch of sparkle instead for this special occasion.
Any way you gather your 2014 prom look, confidence is key. So enjoy the glamour, have fun, and make some memories for a lifetime!
