#EnzoaniRealBride: Lacey and Alex

Love is in the Air: Sunny Southern California Bliss

In a traditional and romantic summer wedding on August 24, 2013, Lacey married Alex at the beautiful Turnip Rose Promenade Gardens in sunny Costa Mesa, California. Lacey and Alex's emotional union was especially meaningful as her two brothers accompanied the bride down the garden aisle sprinkled with soft purple petals. We were fortunate enough to hear about Lacey's love story, about what her family means to her, about her gorgeous wedding, and about how she found 'The One' in her Catherine wedding dress.

THE DRESS

"I chose Catherine as my dress. I didn't want a dress with a lot of volume, and the Catherine perfectly fit and accentuated my hourglass figure. I loved the subtle lace accents on the bodice and train of the dress, as well as the slimming effect the dress had on my waist. Also, I tried on several dresses that were very hard to move in or just plain uncomfortable, and the Catherine was neither; it was comfortable and effortless to wear."

THE LOVE STORY

My husband and I met through a mutual friend, who invited us to go out with a group of friends on Good Friday 2010. Neither one of us intended to attend as we both had other plans that night. I am a nurse, was working in hospice and had a case that night, and he had plans with other friends. His plans fell through and my patient sadly passed away before the end of my shift, so we both showed up last minute; I was still in my work clothes! We spent the whole night talking over drinks and talking about our love of cars. That night, he asked me for my number. On October 13th, 2012, Alex had his mom take me for a spa day at the Surf and Sand in Corona Del Mar, and surprised me with his proposal as we sat having lunch at our beautiful table overlooking the ocean. Afterward, he planned a celebratory party at his parents' house with our families. The rest is history!

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT

In 2008 when I was just 22, my father passed away, just 31 days after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. It was so hard to have him missing from my wedding day. As a result, I had my older brothers walk me down the aisle, and I was just going to skip the father-daughter dance portion of the wedding. Unbeknownst to me or Alex, my brothers had contacted my DJ and planned a special dance with them instead. When the DJ announced the dance, I broke into tears; it was such a special gesture. I may not have had my dad to dance with, but they made my night with their thoughtfulness!

What advice would you give to other brides?

Relax, enjoy the process of planning and your wedding day. Nobody will remember the little things that didn't happen just right, but what they will remember is you looked truly happy and enjoyed the day.
