#EnzoaniRealBride: Leantine and Maarten

How Her Wedding Dress Inspired Her Cake!

In March 2012, Leantine of the Thee Met Taart (Tea with Cake) Cakelab blog married Maarten in a romantic ceremony in Rotterdam in The Netherlands. Surrounded by close friends and family, Leantine and Maarten's wedding was a sweet and wintry celebration among loved ones of all ages. To look picture-perfect on the big day, Leantine selected Dabra from the Blue by Enzoani collection. A perennial favorite among brides, Dabra features a classic A-line silhouette with delicate lace appliques, sparkling beaded belt, and a flowing skirt of the softest tulle layers. Leantine shared the story behind her romance and her Say Yes to the Dress moment, as well as something extra special...her "dream project": a one-of-a-kind custom tiered cake creation, inspired by Dabra!

About That Cake...

"I made a cake based on a beautiful design by Enzoani. I chose the Blue by Enzoani Dabra dress. I read that the dress was voted 'Dream Dress' by the Enzoani Africa team. It happens to be the dress that I wore on my wedding day, so that collided very well together. I really hope that you like it and that I did the design justice! The flowers are made from sugar and specially handmade for the cake. I wanted the lace of the cake matches up to the beautiful lace of the dress."

How did you know your dress was "The One?"

"I did not choose the dress...it chose me! I was at a wedding fair, talking to the bridal salon lady, when I spotted the dress. I interrupted the lady, took the dress, and never let it go!"

Tell us about your love story!

"We met in a bar, after a (then) mutual friend told my hubby she did not have cute friends. She took him to the same bar I was in, we fell in love, and now almost fourteen years later, we are still in love and married."

What is your favorite wedding day memory?

"My favorite memory is seeing my hubby for the first time on the morning of our wedding, giving him a surprise by arranging a photo shoot in his favorite soccer stadium, and my little niece telling me I was her real aunt now, as she handed me a coloring page as a gift."

What advice would you offer to other brides?

"Relax! Everything will work out!"

Is there anything else you'd like to share with us?

"After I had bought my dress, the wedding salon went bankrupt and had to close their doors. It was not clear if I would ever see my already-paid-for dress again. I learned that the bridal salon never paid for my dress (to the designer) or sent in my order, BUT Enzoani was kind enough to make the dress anyway and gave it to me."

Thank you, Leantine, for sharing your story with us!
